Marvel Studios / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is now casting a female actress to portray the role of Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan. This character is an American Muslim from Jersey City, New Jersey, and will star in a new stand-alone film “Ms. Marvel” to go into production next year. The character will be “comic book accurate”. “Captain Marvel” is currently shooting in the Los Angeles, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans areas. “Captain Marvel” centers on Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the twenty-first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Starring in Captain Marvel is Academy Award winner Brie Larson playing Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing from their own screenplay, with additional script contributions by Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, and Carly Mensch. Producers are Kevin Feige, Lars P. Winther, with Mary Livanos as associate producer. Executive producers are Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee, and Jonathan Schwartz. DP is Ben Davis. “Captain Marvel” is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019, in IMAX and 3D. This project is currently using the working title “Open World.”
