Genre Films and Lucasfilm are getting ready to begin shooting in August, 2015 on Walt Disney Pictures’ first film in a new series of stand-alone movies in the Star Wars saga. The first film is titled “Star Wars: Rogue One”. The film’s casting director is setting up auditions for lead and supporting roles, many of which will be young male and female adults to play X-Wing pilots of the Rogue Squadron. Shooting will take place at the Pinewood Studios near London, and other various locations in the UK. There will also be some additional shooting in Mexico. Film crew members can submit resumes by email. Extras registration is posted below. All actors, extras, and crew members must be legally eligible to work in the entertainment industry in London and in the United Kingdom (see below).
Set between the third and the fourth movies in the Star Wars saga (but closer to A New Hope), “Star Wars: Rogue One” will center on a group of resistance fighters, led by the Rogue Squadron of X-Wing pilots, who unite to steal the Death Star plans and “bring a new hope” to the Old Republic. Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones has officially been cast to play the role of one of the one of the Rogue Squadron members.
Primetime Emmy Award nominee Gareth Edwards will direct “Star Wars: Rogue One” from an original screenplay written by Academy Award nominee Chris Weitz, based on characters by four-time Academy Award nominee George Lucas and story by Academy Award winner John Knoll. Eight-time Academy Award nominee Kathleen Kennedy will produce for Lucasfilm along with four-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Tony To and John Swartz. Executive producers are Simon Emanuel, Academy Award winner John Knoll, and Lucasfilm SVP of Physical Production Jason D. McGatlin. “Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One” is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on December 16, 2016. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will handle domestic distribution.
