Disney casting calls underway for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Fifth Mate Productions and Jerry Bruckheimer Films are now set to begin shooting the Walt Disney Pictures fantasy adventure comedy feature film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The film is now officially in pre-production,  and shooting will start in Australia. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.

Starring in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is three-time Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp reprising his role as the legendary pirate of the Seven Seas, Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp has been extremely busy since filming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He recently wrapped the Disney film Into The Woods in England, and has been shooting the crime-thriller London Fields. He has starred in the Lionsgate feature film Mortdecai, and is now shooting Black Mass and Through the Looking Glass. Reports have Keith Richards reprising his role as Jack Sparrow’s father Captain Edward Teague, and two-time Academy Award winner Christopher Waltz in negotiations to play villain Captain Brand.

Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will direct Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales from an original screenplay written by BAFTA Film Award nominee Jeff Nathanson based on characters by Academy Award nominee Terry Rossio. Rønning and Sandberg, who go by the directing team name of Roenberg, co-own one of Scandinavia’s largest production companies for commercials called Motion Blur. The duo directed the Academy Award nominated feature film Kon-Tiki, and are producing the currently filming Beatles. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales scribe Jeff Nathanson has written screenplays for a number of very successful feature films including Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3, Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, and Tower Heist.

Nine-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Jerry Bruckheimer is producing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales along with Jerry Bruckheimer Films executives Mike Stenson and Chad Oman. Movies produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films have earned 41 Academy Award nominations with six wins. Some notable financial successes have been Con Air, Coyote Ugly, Pearl Harbor, Remember the Titans, and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Jerry Bruckheimer Films also produced the first four Pirates films, which have raked in over $3.72 billion worldwide. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will handle domestic distribution.
